An Honest Conversation About The Road Ahead

Why our prices are changing, and why our values remain the same

A Lesson From The Ranch

Dad always used to say that if you want to do something right, you have to be prepared for the work that comes with it. He spent his life on the Nebraska plains, tending to a herd that mattered more to him than any bottom line. He believed in doing things at their own pace, and he believed that quality was a conversation between the land and the person who worked it.

When I took over Sandhill Ben's in 2020, I made a promise to keep that spirit alive. I didn't come into this as a business person. I came into this as a daughter who didn't want to lose the scent of the dry rub in the kitchen or the memory of my father's quiet generosity.

The Realities Of The Kitchen

Lately, I have been looking at the invoices for our ingredients. Much of the world of spices is imported, and recent shifts in trade and tariffs have made those costs rise. For a small operation like ours, that presents a difficult challenge. We have spent the last few months absorbing these increases, trying to hold onto the price points Dad set years ago.

But there is a point where that becomes impossible without changing the ingredients themselves. And that is something I refuse to do. Dad taught me that if you are going to put your name on a bottle, you should never settle for lesser quality just to keep a number on a tag the same.

Why We Are Moving Forward

To ensure we can keep sourcing the high-quality components that make our blends what they are, we will be adjusting our prices in the coming weeks. This was not an easy decision. It goes against the instinct to make things accessible for everyone, just like Dad used to do when he gave his seasoning away by the handful.

I want to be transparent with you because this brand is built on honesty, not corporate strategy. We are not a factory. We are a family venture that prioritizes the integrity of the product over the speed of the profit. By adjusting our prices, I am choosing to keep the quality exactly where Dad wanted it.

Staying True To The Roots

My father was a man of few words, but he was a man of deep convictions. He knew that the value of the meat is in the care you take with it. He knew that when you work hard to produce something honest, you owe it to yourself to protect it.

Thank you for walking this path with me. Your support is more than just a purchase; it is a way of keeping what he built present. We will keep doing things the right way, one small batch at a time.
